On Monday the 19th of November, Year 7 went on a special excursion with Mr Johnston and Spanish-speaking Mrs Thomas. We were given the opportunity to travel to Wollongong CBD to the Bull and Bear restaurant and San Churro to experience authentic Spanish cuisine. We were challenged to try our hardest to speak Spanish the duration of the excursion, to both widen our vocabulary and become more confident speaking to our peers in Spanish.
We began by travelling to the Bull and Bear restaurant in Wollongong and commencing our challenge as we made our way to our seats. We were able to try a wide range of unique Spanish dishes, sharing several Tapa plates between our classmates. Each of us widening our pallet and stepping out of our comfort zone whilst trying the meals.
After rating the delectable courses, we made our way to San Churro, but first making use of the gorgeous atmosphere of Wollongong Mall by taking part in a brief outdoor lesson with Mrs Thomas.
We concluded our day with a very palatable dessert of churros and various chocolate dips at San Churro. Those who were successful in the Spanish speaking challenge were rewarded with an additional treat of ice cream for tremendous efforts!
As a class, we thoroughly enjoyed our exceptional excursion and immensely thank Mr Johnston for arranging such a phenomenal experience.
